Just a sketch

Preciso de pintar um Tritão Marmorado para o trabalho que tenho em mãos. Já fiz vários esboços, todos incompletos, porque os bichos insistem em esconder-se no meio das plantas aquáticas. Depois estudei fotografias e guias de campo e lá consegui compor um desenho preliminar completo. O L. diz que está horrível, que o bicho está gordo e feio, que os verdadeiros são mesmo bonitos. E eu tendo a concordar com ele (tirando a parte do horrível e do gordo). Por isso, voltei à piscina - duas vezes - mas não consegui encontrar nenhum. Começo a acreditar que eles me sentem chegar e se escondem... Então, acabei por pintar a cascata e inventar uns lírios (que existem, mas ainda não estão em flor). Entretanto, o L. prometeu que logo me vai apanhar um tritão para eu desenhar (eles são mais activos à noite). Claro está que, uma vez despachado o desenho, voltamos a pô-lo no sítio!

I need to paint a Marbled Newt for my ongoing project. I've made several live sketches, all incomplete, because the animals insist in hiding among the aquatic plants. Then I looked at photographs and field guides and I came up with a complete preliminary drawing. L. says it sucks - that it is fat and plain, while the real animals are beautiful. I tend to agree with him - except from the fat and plain. So I went back to the pool twice, but I couldn't find any (I'm starting to believe they sense I'm coming and hide). So I painted the small cascade, with aome invented lillies, which exist, but haven't bloomed yet. Meanwhile, L. promised to go to the pool at night and catch a newt for me to draw (they are more active at night). Of course, we will put him back after I'm done with the drawing!
